October: Clay Ghosts
I love this craft! This is definitely one of my favorites around Halloween. These ghosts are made out of air-dry clay, and then you can put them on top of tea lights so their eyes glow. The goal is to create a spooky decoration for teens to enjoy. The main idea is pretty basic so there are a lot of ways to get creative with this craft-you could mod podge napkins with it the same way you would with the shells, for instance.

This program will probably take about a half-hour to prep. I originally found this project on TikTok, but there are a lot of different tutorials for this project that you can find online. You could do this program with about 20 participants max.

1 staff member is needed to demonstrate activity and help participants as needed.
PREP STEPS:
Place a bowl of water, paintbrushes, and Mod Podge for each participant.
Don’t put the clay out beforehand, as it can dry out before you begin.
Cut tin foil into roughly 4-inch squares.
Program Execution:
Take a clump of air-dry clay, roll it into a ball, and flatten it out so it’s roughly the size of your hand.
Smooth it out so that it’s about a half-inch thick.
Take about a 4-inch square of tin foil and roll it into a ball. Place the ball on the top of the Dixie cup.
Drape the air-dry clay over the tin foil and cup. Use water to mold the clay so that it drapes the way you want it to.
Use a straw to poke two eyeholes for your ghost.
Let dry.
