LIS 528 | Storytelling

Storytelling Final Project

ALSC Competencies: VI, VII

Storytelling was one of the more unique classes that I took during the course of my program. We explored what makes a story a story, how to tell a story effectively, what the power of stories were, and what the future of stories looked like. I really enjoyed this class because my undergrad degree was in theatre studies and I loved being able to learn about storytelling from a library science perspective. I am including the story that I told for my final project in this class. I chose this assignment because although I lead storytimes at my library and I have told a lot of stories, this was the first time in a long time I was given the opportunity to tell an original story. This class helped me learn a lot about the connection that can grow from telling stories and the power of storytelling that can makes institutions like libraries so important.
